Ag Awareness Day

On Wednesday, May 12, it was a beautiful day to host Agriculture Awareness Day for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students from Mormon Trail Community School and the Central Decatur Community Schools. Volunteers from around Decatur County, along with the Lamoni FFA, Mormon Trail FFA, and Central Trail FFA teamed up to share a diverse amount of agriculture knowledge with our upper elementary students. Lamoni FFA members educated students on beef cattle and pigs.  We used our Farrowing Project's 15 piglets and Trailer to show how pigs are raised on some farms.

Thanks to Decatur County Farm Bureau for supporting this event, and Karen Schuldt for all of her preparations! Also, thanks to the Decatur County Cattlemen's for preparing the hamburgers for our meal, very fitting lunch to have during Beef Month! Also thank you to the Decatur County Fairboard and Leon Rodeo Committee for the use of the facilities at the fairgounds! Students walked away with increased agriculture knowledge through their attendance to many great agriculture stations!
