2nd and 3rd Grade Vote
Lamoni Elementary’s 2nd and 3rd grade classes participated in the Great Cookie Election on November 8th. Students had to choose a cookie to campaign for, the options were "Oreo" or "Chips Ahoy". We came up with pros and cons of each cookie, and they carefully decided which one they were going to make a campaign poster for. Students also wanted to include the upper elementary and had them vote on which cookie was best. We had a discussion on democracy and voting and why it is important to us even as students! On election day, students held a mock election where they had to go into the voting booth and vote for their cookie choice. Oreo ended up winning our 2022 cookie election by a landslide. It was a fun project to get students thinking about how important voting can be!
