Demon Happening 12/5

Welcome back, fellow readers! We hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and are ready to hear more about the week here at Lamoni High School. The students started off the week eating donuts with their dads in the Commons on Monday Morning.

The men’s bowling team competed against Mt Ayr and Lenox on Monday. This is the Demons second meet and their first one away. After talking to Varsity bowler Alex Burnette, he had this to say about the intense competition, “Everyone bowled pretty well. I can not complain about how we played or how our individual or Baker games went, but if I had to complain, it would have to be about how crowded the lanes were.” The boys scored a high game of 155 pins and scored over 100 pins every Baker match. Alex also said, “We keep getting better, and I hope that this will continue throughout the whole season.”

The women’s bowling team also competed against the same teams on Monday. After to speaking Isabel Jordison, she said “One thing that didn’t go well was that it was our first away game, and a lot of us felt uncomfortable bowling somewhere else.” In addition to this, the bowlers who did not have their own ball had to overcome the challenge of finding a ball at the different alley that fit their needs. She also added, “In spite of all that went wrong and what could have gone worse, our Baker games improved and the team we sat next to were pretty friendly. The shoes were better than what we are used to and we had a lot of fun.”

On Tuesday, the men's basketball and women's basketball teams competed against the Murray Mustangs. The girls played hard and the score reflected it; the score was 48-39, with Murray pulling heading late in the final quarter.  After the women's game the men's team took the floor.  The men played hard but took a hard loss, 67-45.

On Friday the Demons took the court against the Twin Cedars Sabers.  The women had a textbook win, passing the ball and playing great defense.  The women took it with a score of 56-16.  Then it was the men's time.  The men's basketball has played like they have in the past, winning, passing, playing defense,  that's good old fashion Demons Basketball.  Look for the Demons to take the court at Moravia, Iowa, on Tuesday December 6th.
