Lamoni Schools Celebrates National School Counselor Week: Amplifying Student Success

This week, February 2–6, Lamoni Community School District joins schools across the nation to celebrate National School Counselor Week. This annual observance highlights the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and the tremendous impact they have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

This year’s theme, "School Counselors Amplify Student Success," perfectly describes the work of Lamoni’s own Amy Sellars. As our K-12 Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Sellars provides vital support that goes far beyond scheduling. She serves as a listener, a navigator, and an advocate for every student who walks through our doors.

How School Counselors Make a Difference:

• Academic Development: Helping students set goals and find the resources they need to thrive in the classroom.
• Social & Emotional Support: Providing a safe space for students to manage challenges and build resilience.
• College & Career Readiness: Guiding students through the complex process of planning for life after high school.
