Launch the media gallery 1 playerIt’s National School Bus Safety Week! Here are a few tips and reminders we can ALL utilize to help ensure the safety of our students on the school bus to/from school and activities:
Safety tips for drivers:
- Watch for students and pedestrians when driving in school zones.
- Slow down and watch for children near bus stops.
- Look for children who might dart into the street without checking for traffic.
- Know and obey ALL Iowa traffic laws regarding school buses. Violations can result in significant fines and penalties.
Safety tips for riders:
- Be at your assigned bus stop five minutes early.
- Do not use headphones or electronic devices while getting on or off the bus.
- Only cross in front of the bus when getting on or off.
- Always refrain from using rude, loud, or abusive language on the bus.
- Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching to get on.
- Follow all bus rules for your own safety.
