Breakfast with Grandparents

Gravy With Grans By Eva Savage    The Lamoni Community Schools hosted Gravy with Grans, where the grandparents of the students could come in and have breakfast with their grandchildren. It was a great turn out and was very successful.  It was a morning full of laughter and memories made by the students and grandparents. Hopefully next year they will continue to have this event.

New Laptops at School

    The Lamoni Middle School and Lamoni High School students are getting new laptops; these will be Chromebooks. The Chromebooks are being tested by some of the people in Tag, which stands for Talented and Gifted. The people that tested the laptops are Kiera Fonseca, Matthew Patience, Owen Jackel, and Heiatua Paredes; there are no 6th grade testers. 5th Grade Theme Sharing

Mrs. Pitt's class has been studying animal habitats. The assignment was for every 5th grader to pick an animal and then write five paragraphs about it.  We made flash cards from the facts from our research paper. K-3 Votes for the Goldfinch Award

The elementary students in kindergarten through 3rd grade voted for the Goldfinch Award last week. The Goldfinch Award winner is chosen by elementary students in the state of Iowa and the voting takes place in March.  To be eligible to vote for the Goldfinch Award, students have to have read at least five of the nominated books, either by themselves or have them read out loud. Upcoming Open Enrollment Deadline

Lamoni Community School reminder to parents: March 1 is the deadline for filing an open enrollment application with the resident and receiving districts for the 2018/2019 school year. For Kindergarten students, the deadline is September 1.
