Freedom Racing Scholarship for Young Entrepreneurs Due May 5
A $1,000 scholarship renewable for 4 years for a graduating senior who is enrolling in a trade school or college after graduation. You must fill out the attached application and complete the essay. Please mail or email your application to Freedom Racing. Do not drop off at the office.
 

Iowa Corn Growers Association Scholarship - Due February 1

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior whose parents are members of the Decatur County Corn Growers Association or are a student member themselves.  To become a member  apply online at www.iowacorn.org/en/membership/new_member_form/

Decatur County Farm Bureau Scholarship - Due February 26, 2021

This application must be submitted to the county Farm Bureau in the county where family has a Farm Bureau membership.  Applications should be sent to 118 North Main Street Leon Iowa 50144. Two $1,000 scholarships will be given. Eligibility is reserved for current Iowa Farm Bureau members or their children in good standing with the organization. To be considered, the graduating high school senior must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, be involved in extra-curricular activities and accepted into an accredited higher education institution, including community colleges and technical schools. To apply, students must demonstrate their leadership and community involvement and submit a typewritten essay detailing how they would use a scholarship award to support Iowa Farm Bureau’s mission of creating a vibrant future for agriculture, farm families and their communities. Conservation Districts of Iowa Scholarship - Due March 12, 2021

Students will need to going into a field in conservation or agriculture to apply. Fill out the application that can be found online or in the counselor's office. You will need an official transcript, note from a counselor, and a letter or recommendation. There are three levels with one county winner, and then regional and state winners. Students can email or drop off applications.

P.E.O. local Scholarship - Due April 1, 2021

This scholarship is designed for a female student who has demonstrated a well-rounded and sincere appreciation for her community, friends, family, and life-long learning. Applications should be turned into the counselor. 

R.O.C.C.S. Scholarship - Due May 7, 2021

The R.O.C.C.S. Scholarship is given to a student who has demonstrated appreciation for his/her community through leadership and service. Please turn in completed applications to the counselor's office. 

Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship - Due May 5

This scholarship requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 for application. Completed applications should be turned in to the counselor's office.

This scholarship is for Lamoni students who have demonstrated a commitment to academics and athletics during their high school career. Please return applications to the counselor's office. 

Logan Ray Gilliland Memorial Scholarship - May 5

The successful recipient will be a graduating high school senior from Lamoni Community School District who demonstrates:

  • Scholastic Aptitude
    • A minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA
  • Extra-curricular Participation
    • 4 years of participation in extra-curricular activity, such as Athletics, Fine Arts, FFA, etc.
  • Commitment to Continued Education
    • The scholarship is to be used for post-secondary education at an accredited nonprofit, public educational institution  in pursuit of a  professional goal. The school may be a two- or four-year college or university or vocational program and the student must attend full time.  The applicant needs to demonstrate that he/she is capable of succeeding in that educational pursuit and that this scholarship will help them in this endeavor.

One award of $500 will be given annually, provided directly to the educational institution in the fall semester and applied toward tuition. Please return applications to the counselor's office.

Joann Bjorland Memorial Youth Fund Due May 5

This a $250 scholarship available to seniors who are attending Graceland University. Students must complete the application and write a one page essay on why they love Lamoni and want to attend Graceland University. 

 

Sgt. Perry Lyle Cougill Memorial Scholarship Due April 12, 2021

This a $2,500 scholarship awarded to the student. Students will need to write a 1-2 page essay about themselves, their service to other, an their plans/ambitions/goals for the future. Return the essay to the counselor's office. See the link or the counselor for more details.

The Hixson Opportunity Award is a half-tuition scholarship, approximately $16,000 over eight semesters, for those who meet very specific criteria.  One award is given per county in Iowa.  The deadline is December 15, 2021 Apply at http://www.hixson.dso.iastate.edu/. The Multicultural Vision Program is a four year full tuition scholarship offered to TRIO participates or students who identify as American Indian or Alaskan Native, Black/African American, Asian American, Native Hawaiian,or Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino, or Multiracial. Students need to demonstrate financial need and academic potential. Due date is December 1, 2019. College of Engineering scholarships are due by December 2, 2019. You must have a GPA of 3.6 or higher, an ACT score of 28 or higher, and not meet the automatic merit scholarships. Triangle scholar-leader scholarship award and First Robotics Future Cyclones Scholarship ar available to students majoring in science, engineering or architecture. See the website for more details. The Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship - Due May 3, 2021

Requirements include being of the Protestant faith, a resident of Iowa, and plans to attend the University of Iowa full-time.  The scholarship award is $5,000 annually.  Please see the school counselor for an application.

UNIBusiness Freshman Scholarships are by invitation only.  In order to qualify for an invitation, students must have both ACT math and ACT composite scores of 27 or higher.  To access the application visit www.uni.edu/finaid and click on the "Scholarships" link.  Due January 15.

Waldorf College

The Pillars scholarship does not have a due date and pays for 50%, 75%, or 100% of tuition. Students who are awarded will participate in research in one of 12 programs. See counselor for more information.

Aureon Network Services Scholarship Due March 1 2021

Students need to be pursing a STEM career at an Iowa college with GRM services in their home to apply. $10,000 in scholarship money is available.

Ag Coop Safety Directors of Iowa Scholarship in Memory of Mark Hambleton Due April 30

This is a $1,500 scholarship to a student attending a college or university in the fall who majors in an agriculture or safety related field. students must complete the application found online or with the counselor, submit an essay on what does ag safety mean to you and provide one letter of recommendation form a non-family member. 

Torch Awards for Ethics- March 19, 2021

This is a $2,500 scholarship. It requires an essay about an ethical decision the student made, student involvement, community involvement, future plans, and two letters of recommendation. Only one applicant from each school is allowed. Please see the counselor for more information. 

Coalition to Support Iowa Farmers- Due May 15, 2021

15 $250 scholarships available to high school seniors enrolling in higher education in the fall in an agriculture related field. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher, be an Iowa resident, and demonstrate leadership. Applicants will need to submit and application, essay, high school transcript and letter of recommendation.

                             Robert D. Blue Scholarship - Due May 10, 2021

Students who wish to apply for the scholarship are required to complete the application online by visiting rdblue.org/scholarship.  The Robert D. Blue scholarship is made possible by the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation. Any Iowa student who plans to attend an Iowa college or university is eligible for this award. Applicants are expected to demonstrate literary and scholastic ability; exhibit qualities of truth, courage, and fellowship; and display moral force of character. 

G2 Pilot Overachievers Student Grant- Due November 15, 2021
Students need to hand write a 1,000-2,5000 word essay on how they or someone they know overachieves in helping the lives of others in their community. The application information and form is online

Iowa Arts Council Scholarship Due April 1, 2021

$1,500 scholarships available to seniors who attend a Iowa college of university after graduation. You must submit 5 pieces of artwork and major in an art related field. See website for application and more details. 

Iowa Student Loan-Due October 15- February 21, 2021

30 Scholarship Awards in the amount of $2,000 each to use for fall 2017 college expenses.  Go to www.IowaStudentLoan.org/SeniorScholarship to register.  Once registered, seniors will receive an email with instructions to complete two online tutorials-Student Loan Game Plan and ROCI Reality check.  These must be completed to be considered for the scholarship.  The 30 students with the highest scores on the assessment will earn $2,000 to be sent to their college in the fall. No purchase necessary.

Iowa Environmental Health Association Due February 1, 2021

$500 for the school year, scholarship may be renewed one time if student is in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or above) with their respective college. Scholarship monies will be paid directly to the college or university. Must be an Iowa resident going to school in Iowa in an environmental health related area. 

Iowa Food Prize Foundation Due March 29, 2021

It is a $500 scholarship to ISU. You need to contact iowayouth@worldfoodprize.org that you are participating. Then identify a mentor, write a paper and attend the Youth Iowa Institute on April 26.You must be interested in a specific career path to participate. See the website for more details. 

Iowa Women in Natural Resources (IWINR) - Due November 20, 2020

Plan to enroll iin an Iowa university, college, or community college.  Pursue a career in a natural resources field.  Currently working on a conservation project or planning to work on one.  Present project to IWINR's annual conference.  A personal essay will also be required.  Award amount is a one-time scholarship of $500.

This is a $1,000 scholarship to someone who posts a video of their favorite spot to road trip in Iowa. It is a two minute video that must be posted of Youtube or Vimeo and emailed. Please see the link for more details.

Grand Lodge of Iowa Masonic Scholarships Due February 1, 2021

Must be a high school senior graduating in 2019 from a public high school within the state of Iowa.  The Grand Lodge of Iowa is looking for those students who exhibit the greatest potential to be not only of service to their communities in the future but also leaders in these communities.  The applications may be obtained through your school counselor and must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2020.

Bright Scholars of Iowa

The Bright Scholars of Iowa scholarship program makes the educational dreams of graduating seniors living in Iowa a reality.  The foundation offers full-ride scholarships to Iowa State, Iowa, and UNI as well as DMACC, Indian Hills and Southwestern Community College.  Students must meet eligibility criteria including outstanding academic achievement (top 10% or equivalent of high school graduating class or ACT of 28 and above, or for regent university applicants 299 and higher RAI--Regents Admission Index), demonstration of commitment to learning and community service, qualify for the Pell Grant as determined by filing the FAFSA and maintain full-time enrollment.

Hagan Scholarship- Due November 15, 2020

Students need a GPA of 3.5 or higher, ACT score 23 or higher, work 240 hours in the 12 hours before the start of college. Students must enroll in a four year college. EFC must be less than $6,500 and file FAFSA. See Counselor for more information or the link to the website. 

Iowa College Aid

 The FAFSA is a standardized federal form used to determine eligibility for federal, state, and in some cases, institutional financial aid. Click on the above link for more information about these opportunities. On the state level, the FAFSA serves as the primary application for over $58 million in need-based state grants.  Students can apply for the following state programs by completing the FAFSA:

Keep Iowa Beautiful Scholarships - Due February 12, 2021

Keep Iowa Beautiful offers five $1,000 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors in 2018.  Students who plan to enroll in an Iowa college or university majoring in community, sociology, or environmental science-related fields are eligible to apply. 

The Star Student of Iowa ClaimAid Scholarship - Due January 15

Senior Special Education Students who will continue their education at a college or university are eligible to apply.

The Special Education Teacher Scholarship of Iowa - Due January 15

This scholarship is open to any graduating senior student who will continue her/his education at a college or university and is planning to study Education, specifically Special Education.

Iowa Newspaper Foundation - Due February 12

The Iowa Newspaper Foundation has scholarships available for students preparing for a newspaper career. 

Mediacom Communications World Class Scholarship - Due February 15

Applicants must live in areas serviced by Mediacom, but need not be a Mediacom customer. 

Alliant Energy Innovation Scholarship - Due February 17

Applicants must reside in a home currently served by Alliant Enegry or subsidiary and be planning to pursue full-time undergraduate study in a business or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) major at an accredited two- or four- year college, university or vocational-technical school located in Iowa or Wisconsin.

Iowa Financial Know-How Challenge: Senior Scholarship - Due February 21

Applicants must be high school seniors in Iowa who plan to attend college next fall.  To qualify, applicants must complete two online financial literacy tutorials and an online financial literacy assessment.  The applicants who score the highest on the assessment test will receive a scholarship sent directly to their college or university. 

High School Prevention Magazine Scholarship

This is a $500 scholarship for seniors who write a 600-800 word essay about a person or experience with abuse. You must have a 2.5 GPA and attend college or a training program next year. See the counselor counselor for more details. 

Grand Lodge MCEC Technical Scholarship - Due March 1

This scholarship will be awarded to a number of graduating Iowa high school seniors who plan to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at an accredited Iowa Community College.  A Masonic connection is not necessary.  Applications are available at www.grandlodgeofiowa.com  Click on Awards & Applications then click on MCEC Scholarship Form in PDF.

Southwest Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative Scholarships - Due March 2

Applicants must currently live in a home served by the Southwest Iowa REC.

Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education - Due March 1

Applicants must be committed to the pursuit of automotive-related studies, such as technical training, body shop/collision repair, diesel, new vehicle sales, parts sales, accounting or business administration.It is a $2,500 scholarship.

Ann Griffel Scholarship - Due April 1, 2021

The IGAF Ann Griffel Scholarship are for Iowa high school senior girls who have a passion for golf and intend to further their education at an Iowa institution of higher learning, whether a college, university, or trade school.

Herman Sani Scholarship - Due April 1, 2021

Any graduating high school senior and resident of Iowa with experience or background in golf is eligible to apply.  Each recipient receives $8,000 ($2,000 per year) over a consecutive four-year period as long as he/she is making reasonable academic progress.

First Friday Breakfast Club - Due March 16

As part of it's educational program, FFBC awards $3,000 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership in efforts to increase education and understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues and reduce homophobia in their schools and/or communities.

Elevate:  Advanced Manufacturing Scholarship - Due May 30, 2021

 There are 15 $500 scholarships that can be applied to tuition at one of Iowa's Community Colleges.  The application is simple! Click here to download the Elevate Iowa Scholarship or find it on the Elevate Iowa website and social media channels. The students can mail or email their scholarship application to Alexandra Monaghan.

Children's Cancer Connection Scholarship - May 28, 2021

Since 1988, Children's Cancer Connection has focused on the mission of enhancing the lives of children and their families affected by childhood cancer by providing programs for recreation, education, and support.  In order to qualify for this scholarship applicants must: be directly affected by childhood cancer (including individuals who currently have or have had cancer before age 18 or a sibling of that individual), must attend or plan to attend an accredited two or four year institution (trade school, college, or university, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Iowa PGA Section-Charlie Burkart Scholarship - Due June 18, 2021

This $1,500 scholarship is awarded yearly to the recipient for 4 years.  Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity in golf, the potential for future contributions to the game, leadership skills/community involvement, then on academic ability and financial need.  You must submit a completed application including high school transcripts, two recommendation letters, a self-statement concerning your interest in golf and your career goals and financial need.  You must also submit a list of other scholarships applied for and received. 

Brian Pearson Scholarship - Due April 5, 2021  

A $1,000 annual scholarship awarded to one male and female athlete. 

GRM Scholarship - Due March 5, 2021

You must be a customer of GRM to apply. You will need to submit a transcript an 500 word essay, and two letters of recommendation. Please visit the website or the counselor for more information.

Iowa Hospital Education Research Foundation Due March 30, 2021

Scholarship of $3,500 for two years are awarded to students for students interested in healthcare. Students then commit to working in Iowa hospital for one year.

Seaboard Foods and Area High Schools Partnership- Due January 31, 2021

40 $1000 scholarship for seniors offered who will attend college in the fall. It is based on academics, community involvement and school activities. 

SFM Foundation Scholarship - Due March 31, 2021

This is a scholarship awarded to seniors whose parents were killed or seriously injured in a workplace accident. Students must be residents of Iowa, Wisconsin or Minnesota to apply. 

Smithfield Hog Production Missouri Scholarship - Due March 15, 2021

There are two scholarships Community and Family. $6,000 worth of scholarships are available. See the website for more details and you must apply online.

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship- Due June 12, 2021

Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who write a 500-1000 word essay. The prompts are in the link.

Adamson & Cleveland LLC Scholarship Due May 28, 2021

This scholarship requires a 600 word essay or 2 min video answering a prompt about safe driving. There will be three winners. 

Addiction Resource Essay Scholarship Due November 15, 2020

This is up to 1, 200 words essay scholarship about binge drinking. First place is $1,000. 

Agriculture Future of America Scholarship - Due March 10, 2021

 For graduating seniors or current college students. For anyone that wants to work in the agriculture industry for a career (College major isn't limited to an "Ag" major) This is a competitive application process with students applying from throughout the country. American College Foundation Visionary Scholarship Due May 1, 2021

This is a $1,000 - $5,000 scholarship. You must register on the website and complete a packet. You will need to write a 500 word essay. See website for details.

This is a $10,000 scholarship over four years for a senior with a learning disability or ADHD who is enrolling in a 4 year college program. 

Brady Cobin Law Group Scholarship- Due April 15, 2021

Innovation Scholarship Essay Due December 1, 2020

Code Wizards HG Educational Scholarship Due May 1, 2021

This is a $2,500 scholarship to a senior. You must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. You will need to submit your financial aide letter, a transcript, a resume, a statement, and one letter of recommendation. 

DAR Good Citizen Scholarship- Due October 19, 2020

Edsmart.org Scholarship Due December 15, 2020

This is $2,000 scholarship. Students need to submit a 400 or more word essay on something they have done to benefit the community. They also need to send in a liability release and a headshot. You must be enrolled in a college or university in the winter of 2019.

Fleming College Scholarship Due June 30, 2021

This is a $1,000 scholarship. Students will submit a 500 word essay or two minute video answering the questions about when they got a smartphone, how it impacts their lives and how it impacts their driving. You will need to submit the application on their website. Please follow the link. 

NRCS 1890 National Scholars Program - Due February 1, 2021

The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program is a partnership between of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities. The program awards scholarships to students to attend one of 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities.  Eligibility requirements for the USDA/1890 National Scholars Program are as follows: Applicants must be U.S. citizens who have a high school diploma or a G.E.D. certificate and are starting their first year of college for a bachelor's degree.  Scholarship award is $5,000.  Applications for the USDA/1890 National Scholars Program can be obtained at:USDA/1890 Programs

National Guard Officers Auxiliary Scholarships- Due February 1, 2021

Flavorful Futures Scholarship Due February 22, 2021

Five $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to students with a 2.5 GPA. Students will answer the questions about how education will support their flavorful future and what inspires self confidence. They will create a 3 minute or less video about you. 

Mensa Foundation Scholarship- Due January 15, 2021

Must be enrolled in a degree program in an accredited U.S. institution of higher learning during the academic year following the application date.  Must submit an application and essay explaining his or her career. academic, and/or vocational goals.  Apply at www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships/

Most Valuable Student Scholarship- Due November 15, 2020

This scholarship is provided by the Elks National Foundation. Students are judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need. These are four year scholarships up to $50,000. Please complete the online application.

Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award Due March 15, 2021

Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarship- Due December 5, 2020

Applicants must have demonstrated ongoing commitment to their community by performing unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in the United States within the last 12 months.  The winners receive a $5,000 scholarship as well as a $5,000 grant made in their name to the hunger-related charity of their choice in their community.  Apply at http://us.stop-hunger.org/home/grants.html

Hire a Helper Scholarship Due January 15, 2021

Students need to be entering a trade after school and have a 3.4 GPA. Just fill out the form online to be entered. This scholarship is offered four times a year. 

Lift Parts Express Scholarship - Due June 30, 2021

Must be a current senior in high school or a freshman or sophomore in college/university.  Must be enrolled or expected to be enrolled by the Fall of 2018.  Scholarship award amount is $500. 

10 Words or Less Scholarship - Due November 30, 2020

Horatio Alger National Career and Technical Scholarship- Due August 15

1020 scholarships up to $2,500 are awarded to students who graduate in 2020, are committed to pursing a career or technical degree or certificate after graduation, and who hare Pell eligible. 

Horatio Alger Association - Due October 25, 2020

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  The student will also be committed to pursuing a bachelor's degree.  The amount of the scholarship award ranges from $7,000 to $25,000.  Apply at scholars.horatioalger.org

PB&J Scholarship Due May 31, 2021

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards - Due November 10, 2020

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States' largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service. The program was created in 1995 by Prudential in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) to honor middle level and high school students for outstanding service to others at the local, state, and national level.
The program's goals are to applaud young people who already are making a positive difference in their towns and neighborhoods, and to inspire others to think about how they might contribute to their communities. Over the past 20 years, more than 115,000 young people have been officially recognized for their volunteer efforts.

Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship Foundation - Due October 30, 2020

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities. Up to $40,000 per year to attend and accredited four- year undergraduate institution is awarded based on the following criteria: a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above, SAT combine critical reading and math score of 1200 or above and/or ACT composite score of 26 or above, demonstrate significant unmet financial need.  Applicants will be considered with family income up to $95,000, with anticipation that most scholarship applicants will be eligible to receive a Pell grant.

Janice M. Scott Memorial Fund Scholarship - Due March 31, 2021

This $2,500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior and attends a four year college or university in the U.S. The student must show leadership and have 3.0 GPA or higher.  Combined adjusted parental income must be less than $50,000.

Lamber- Goodnow Scholarships Due December 1

2 $1,000 scholarships are available to students who write a 500-750 word essay about creativity and problem solving. You need to plan on attending a college in the fall. See the website for more details.

Science Ambassador Scholarship - Due December 14, 2020

The Science Ambassador Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship for a woman seeking an undergraduate degree in science, engineering, or math, funded by Cards Against Humanity. The ideal candidate will be an ambassador for their field–someone passionate about discovery who shares their excitement with others.

To apply, submit a video of yourself explaining a topic in science you are passionate about. The videos will be reviewed by a board of fifty women who hold higher degrees and work professionally in science and engineering. Ten video finalists will move onto the next round and submit additional materials.

Rehab 4 Addiction Scholarship Due December 11

This is a $1,000 scholarship for a student going into a medical field. 

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program - Due January 5, 2021

Honoring the legacy and character of our nation's 40th president, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. 18 $10,000 scholarships will be rewarded and it can be renewed. 

United States JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship - Due January 22

Jeffcoat Firm Scholarship Due May 1, 2020

This scholarship focuses on students who write a 600 or less word essay on how drunk driving impacts have made you a safe driver. You can also make a two minute or less video to answer the same questions.  First place is $1,000 and second place is $500.

Morris King and Hodge Driver Safety Scholarship- Due April 2020

A scholarship for seniors who write a minimum of 1,000 words about distracted driving. Students will need to discuss how they will educate the community and how to reduce distracted driving.

Karsyn's Krusaders / Jessica Miller Memorial Scholarship Due April 13, 2021

5 $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who have beat cancer or have a sibling with cancer. More details are on the website and the counselor has application forms.

Varsity Tutors Monthly Scholarship Program

Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship.

OppU Achievers Scholarship Due Dec 31, March 31 and June 30
